I've Been Published!

Today, I am doing something different rather than posting a review. I am sharing with you a book that I love - one that I wrote!

My younger sister and I have been writing together for a few years, and we recently had our first novel published through eLectio Publishing.

No Longer Broken is a story of forgiveness, of family, of hope. Please show your support and purchase the book and read it for yourself. We would especially love it if you left a review after you are done! :)

Thank you!

Hope-Filled and Interesting - My Review of With My Eyes Wide Open

Published by: Nelson Books
Written by: Brian "Head" Welch with Carol Traver

I enjoy reading about the real life lives of others. I enjoy reading about those who have come through things that were hard to face. I chose to read and review With My Eyes Wide Open because I thought that it sounded like something that would be interesting to me.

Who the book is for:

Fans of Korn will especially appreciate this book, but I found it interesting without having ever listened to the band. Parents will be able to relate to the book, and anyone who has come through - or is going through - any kind of struggles.

What I liked:

Brian is very open in the book about all that he has faced and all that he is still facing.

I enjoyed reading about the relationship between Brian and his daughter.

The whole book is interesting to read and kept my attention.

This book contains a hopeful message.

What I didn’t like:

There is not really anything that I dislike about this book.

My conclusion:

Overall, I thought that this book was a good one to read.

I give With My Eyes Wide Open 5 out of 5 stars.

Not for Me - My Review of June

Published by: Crown Publishing
Written by: Miranda Beverly-Whittemore

There are some books that suck me in right away and then there are some that I just cannot connect with and that just do not work for me. I found June to be the latter.

I could not get into this book, and I was unable to connect with the characters. The inappropriate feelings that one character had for another made this a book that I did not want to read and one that made me feel uncomfortable.

What I liked:

I love the look and feel of this book. It was one of those books that I wanted to love, one that I thought that I would have fun reading.

What I didn’t like:

I feel like this book is too hard to get into and there is not enough dialogue.

I do not like how the book switches between past and present.

As I stated above, there are inappropriate feelings between two characters.

My conclusion:

Overall, I am not a fan of this book and I do not recommend it.

I give June 1 out of 5 stars.

An Interesting Look at an Interesting Life - My Review of Go Big or Go Home

Published by: Zondervan
Written by: Scotty McCreery with Travis Thrasher

I enjoy the music of Scotty McCreery, so I was interested in reading his book when I had the chance to check it out and to review it. I didn't watch him on Idol, but I was still interested in reading about his journey.

Go Big or Go Home tells the story of Scotty McCreery as he auditions for American Idol and as he moves through the show and life.

Who the book is for:

Those who are fans of American Idol, those who are fans of Scotty McCreery, those who enjoy an interesting memoir of sorts.

What I liked:

Scotty is very open about his life and about all that he has done and accomplished.

The book is written in a way that kept me interested.

There are pictures in the center of the book that are fun to look through.

What I didn’t like:

There is not really anything that I dislike about this book.

My conclusion:

Overall, I found this book interesting.

I give Go Big or Go Home 4 out of 5 stars.
