A Halloween Eve Confession

I must confess, I am "__" years old and I have never been trick or treat-ing! It's not something that my parents ever allowed my brothers and sisters and I to participate in, reasoning unknown. :) I must say, though, I look forward to one day helping my future children dress up and go out and collect some goodies. I think that the idea of dressing up into whatever kind of person (or animal, etc.) you want to be sounds like so much fun!

I've also never carved a Jack O Lantern, but came close this year for the first time ever - my brothers, younger sister, and I made a pumpkin "snowman" and my brother carved it's face.

So now you know a little more of what makes me strange... err.. unique. :)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL! (Have a great time trick or treat-ing and carving your Jack O lanterns and eating your candy.)

Just a Random Fact

Did you know that Walmart now sells caskets and urns online?! My brother just told me about this article that tells all about it. My brother's a little disgusted because he works at Walmart. I asked him if he would quit if Walmart started selling them in store and made him stock them, haha.

Is it just me or does it seem like Walmart is taking over the world? (And no, I'm not against the idea.) :)

My Weekend (in the Presence of Pregnant Women)

My weekend was good - though it could have been a bit longer. :) Friday night my brothers and little sister and I went to a couple music stores so that my brother could try out some guitars, then quickly stopped at Big Lots just to see if they had any good deals, then had a supper of pizza from the restaurant that my brother works at. Saturday we were met by my family (which includes 2 pregnant women) and my brothers in-laws, along with my cousin (who is pregnant herself) and her husband and daughter. My oldest brother's party went good and we had a (chilly) good time "tailgating", only with pizza, in the parking lot for a couple of hours. I got home about 10 last night, and some of my family is still at my brother's house.

It was interesting to hang out with 3 pregnant people, 2 of whom I have known my whole life and I still have a hard time believing that they are married and pregnant (even though this is my cousin's second). Time goes so fast!

A Bit More Natural Info and My Weekend Plans

Living naturally can actually save money... because of things that you can stop using, such as shampoo for me. The money I save from not buying shampoo sort of makes up for the money that I spend on natural deodorant. Yes, natural body lotion is a bit higher priced than other lotions, but natural facial wash and lotion are about the same price as other facial products as are natural make up items. The cost of natural living all depends on the brands/products that you use, it doesn't necessarily have to be expensive.

I am so excited about tomorrow! My older brother (one of them) and younger sister (the only one, haha) and I are heading out to stay the night at (another one of) my older brother's house. I really miss my brother and am happy to get to spend the weekend with him. On Saturday the rest of my family (all of the rest), along with my oldest brother's in-laws, will be meeting us in my older brother's town to tour the baseball stadium there for my oldest brother's 30th Birthday party. That enough brothers mixed in there to get you confused? :)

Have a great weekend, everyone!

My ( a little bit) Natural Life

As I have mentioned here before, I have been without shampoo for over 7 months now, I have never told what else I have been doing a little more naturally.

1. Well, of course this kind of goes along with going without shampoo, but I have also been without hair spray, dye, etc., the only things that have been in my hair (purposefully anyway) in the last seven months have been baking soda and vinegar - and rosemary once or twice and those elderberries one time, but that's another tale all together. :)

2. I'm not sure exactly when it was, but at least three or four months ago, I switched to natural deodorant - and I am sure you wanted to know what kind of deodorant I use, haha. I use Tom's of Maine deodorant and it has pretty much worked great for me, the weird thing is that it is a deodorant and not an antiperspirant and I don't sweat much when using it. I switched my deodorant because aluminum supposedly causes Alzheimer's among other things.

3. I use a natural face wash, and have for a couple of months now. I switched to this because I care so much about the skin on my face and it is so delicate.

4. I just recently switched to a natural facial lotion as well, for the same reasons as the above.

5. I have a few random make up items that are natural, but I have never switched to completely natural make up because I love some of the make up that I use now too much and because I'm not to sure using chemicals on my eyelashes, etc, is really going to hurt anything.

I have used natural body lotion - and I really liked the Jergens' Natural line - but right now I just needed some lotion and we had a (unnatural) bottle that we had gotten cheap or free and so I am using that.

I was the first one in my family to care about using natural products, but one of my older brothers has started to "follow in my footsteps" a bit now. :)

All of this being said, I am not a "Natural Snob" and I don't eat a lot of organic food. I'm just trying to change where it easiest or where the chemicals are the strongest.

One more thing, I have been without nail polish for over four months now - nail polish is something that, I believe, could have a really strong impact on your health, how could it not? I've seen some natural nail polishes online, but don't really feel like spending that much on nail polish... one day, maybe.

My Brother and Not Caring

I miss my brother - the sibling closest to my age. He lives about 4 hours from where I live and I haven't seen him in a month (or two, I don't remember). I had a bad dream about him the other night and that really made me miss him. :( The good news... I get to see him this coming weekend. :)

Do you have days where you don't really care - what others think of you, etc.? I feel like that today, my sister just posted a bad picture of me on Facebook, but I'm like "who cares that is how I really looked yesterday". You know that feeling? And then, in a couple days (or tomorrow) I will see that picture and I will beg her to take it down. You know?

I Know a Secret!

Yesterday my older (pregnant) sister came to visit... and let something slip! Her and her husband are very secretive about their baby, not letting us know any of their name ideas, not planning on even finding out the gender of their baby (much less telling us what gender he/she is), etc.. But yesterday my sister and I were in a room alone and my sister was telling me how they are going to plow up their sandbox (that was in the yard when my BIL bought the house) to make it into a garden and then she told me that when " " and then she stopped herself... I didn't know what she said until she got all flustered, then I figured out that she had just told me the name that they have planned for their baby! (They are "feeling" that they are having a girl - and I am, too - and so she already calls her baby by the girl name that they have planned.) So, I know a secret and I alone can know it, and I have to continue to keep it a secret for about 7 or 8 months yet! (I know that I can do it, I know that I can do it, I know that I can do it...)

Snow and H1N1

So, I didn't post in awhile, oops! :( Sorry - haha, I am sure there were so many people waiting for me to post something for them to read. ;)

It snowed! We got almost two inches of snow on Monday (Columbus Day), and the last little bits still haven't melted. That was unusual, even for Wisconsin. I heard that we usually get our first inch in late November, not 2 inches in the middle of October.

The swine flu is abundant around here, closing down a school near me for the rest of the week. I am a little worried about my pregnant family members, as I here that catching the swine flu would be very bad for them. Please pray for them.

Well...

On Saturday I went shopping with my mom, older sister (the expecting one) and little brother and sister, we go home to find "grandparent" bibs on the table - I thought that someone had left them there for my older sister - and out of our living room popped my brother and his wife with news of their own! They really surprised us, since A. we weren't expecting them to get pregnant, and B. they live about six hours away and hadn't even told us that they were coming.

The baby's are due just (exactly) two weeks apart from each other.

Anyway, I am very excited to have two little nephews or nieces (or one of each) on the way, and am very thankful to God that He helped my brother and SIL to get pregnant.

5000 Questions

I found this thing called a 5000 questionnaire on another blog (while blog hopping) - and stupid me, I closed the blog window and don't remember the blog address so I can't link to it. Anyway, the link the the questions is here. I don't know if I will make it through all 50 (?) parts, but here goes part of the first. ( I am going to break each part down a bit. )

5. What is your biggest goal for this year? To start earning some real money with my writing, or just to move on in life in general.

14. How do you handle a rainy day? I don't. ;)

15. Which is worse...losing your luggage or having to sort out tangled holiday lights? I've never lost my luggage, but I have tried to untangle lights, so I will go with that one.

30. What are the key ingredients to having a good relationship? Be open with each other, commit to always love them - no matter what happens, forgive.

There... far as I am going today. :P

Bargains and Shopping

I love to bargain shop!

Everyday I head to my favorite deal finding site and check out their "Hot Deals" section of the forum to make sure that I don't miss out on any deals.

I love to find coupons that make items free - and double coupon-ing works good with that. :) "Stacking" coupons is great, too.

I love shopping clearance - that is pretty much the only way that I buy myself any new clothes.

I love signing up for free samples online - especially when the samples come with a coupon enclosed.

Is anyone else interested in this kind of thing? Would anyone be interested in hearing more about some of the deals that I have gotten over the years - or current deals that are going on? Let me know and I might post more...
