"Love for others is our love relationship with God gone public. Love for others is a public display of affection for God." - Jarrod Jones in his book The Backward Life

I'm loving this book The Backward Life! I only bought it because it was on clearance on for 99 cents, but it is turning out to be really good. I especially like what he had to say about love (above), I so strongly agree with him. He mentioned how Jesus said that the greatest commandment was to love God and then to love others, how that is the most important act of worship that we can do.

One of my new year's resolutions was to learn to love more, and now I am even more inspired to follow through on that. :)

Baby Shower Plans and the Speed of Time

My how fast time flies! I can't believe that we are coming to the end of January! This makes me so excited, mostly because January can be such a cold and gloomy month here, and usually goes by really slow... but not this year!

So my sisters and I have started to plan a shower for our oldest sister and for our sister-in-law... showers are not my favorite thing! :) But I am trying to let my sisters do most of the planning and I will try to enjoy it. Any baby shower advice?

Happy bright and sunny and cold day to all of you!

Judgement (of a different kind)

So, in church yesterday my pastor pretty much started off the service by saying that the hurricane in Haiti was God's judgment on the people who lived there because of their beliefs. I know my pastor wasn't alone in thinking that, because my Google search of the topic came up with very many results. But...

I, personally, do not believe that God judges in ways like that... what I mean is that I think that we will all be judged (individually) at the end of time (or the end of our lives), but I don't think that He judges us here on earth (hurting so many of the innocent) today. If God judges countries with natural disasters for bad things that they do, than where is America's earthquake? Where's China's? Or Cuba's? I believe that things like Haiti's earthquake happen because this world is not perfect, they are a natural part of life.

What do you think? Was the earthquake in Haiti God's judgment or was it just a natural disaster? (Or was it caused by global warming, haha.)

And the Baby is...

... a GIRL!
My brother and sister in law will be giving me a niece late this coming spring! Baby C! This news leaves me sort of hoping for my sister and her husband to have a little boy (so that I will have a niece and a nephew) and sort of hoping for a girl (since I don't get a "mini" of my brother it would be kind of fun to have a "mini" of my sister)... thankfully I am not in control of all of that. :P

Next subject, I don't really understand how one could not want to find out the gender of their baby ahead of time. Isn't it nice to be able to plan ahead (for clothes, etc.)? I know that I am happy to know the gender of this baby and wish that I knew the gender of my sister's, too. What about you? If you are a parent, did you find out the gender of your baby(ies) before birth?

Yay for Thursday!

Sorry to anyone who might not be interested in all of my excited baby posts, but they are just (by far) the most important and exciting "thing" on my mind right now (and probably will be for a long time.)

Anyhow, on Thursday my sister in law is going to get an ultrasound that should be able to confirm whether her baby is a boy or a girl. I am so excited to find out, especially since my brother and her have already decided on names for boy or girl. It will be so fun to be able to buy gender-specific things for this baby and just to think about and pray for either little baby H (first letter of boy name) or baby C (first letter of girl name). Sadly, my older sister and her husband have decided not find out the gender of their baby until birth. :(

What are you looking forward to this week? Or what's driving you nuts this week? (cause I could also write a big long post about that, but I'll spare you - for now.)

"If it is possible, as far as it depends upon you, live at peace with everyone."

This very important instruction now hangs in my bedroom, and is now ingrained in my head. Those words have saved me a few times, today alone, as I was "tempted" to start a fight/argument with a couple different people.

My room is currently being redecorated to a sort of 60's/70's hippie/retro style, and so thinking along the lines of peace, I made a collage of colorful paper and but those words on top - and that sign hangs next to a collage with a peace sign on it.

(By the way, that is found in the Bible, Romans 12:18)

New Year's Resolutions (a bit late)

I've started working on my New Year's Resolutions, but I have not posted them all here yet. I am thinking that maybe I should work on them one at a time? Not sure yet. Anyway, here they are so far:

First, I am reading through the entire Bible this year - I signed up for an emailed update each day of which chapters I need to read (about three each day), and I've been reading them right on the computer each morning when I go on to do my usual stuff.

Secondly, I want to learn to "respect" everyone... no dissing for things that others do that (although they may not be things that I would do, and may annoy me) are not wrong, no judging for things that others do that are wrong (it's not my job to judge).

Third, don't hold bitterness inside, but find ways to forgive and let go of wrongs that are done to me.

And lastly (for now, anyway), is just to love everyone more - this should be made easier if I am following all of the above.

What are your resolutions? How are you doing on following them?

Hello again all!

Wow-ee, I haven't written in a long time! I don't have much of an excuse, other than I've been tired, and I've been hanging with my bro's and sisters. My oldest brother and his wife and my other moved out older brother were home for New Years, and my sister and her husband came over too - that was nice.

I'm going to post soon, hopefully, with my new year's resolutions list, but right now my brother's are wanting me to watch Andy Griffith with them - and I am tired. :)

Have a great weekend!
