She Has Arrived!

I now have a niece to "go with" my little nephew. C was born this weekend, just 13 days after my nephew P was born. P was 9 days early, and C was 11 - and I've always heard that first babies are late?!

I can't wait for the day that the two babies get to meet each other - since neither family wants to travel anytime soon and the two live about 6 hours apart, it might be awhile. :)

A Review of Read and Share Bible DVD

I received the DVD Read and Share Bible Life and Miracles (The Jesus Series) from Thomas Nelson's BookSneeze program. I got the dvd free just because I was willing to review it, but the views expressed here are completely my own.

Read and Share Bible, Life and Miracles

What I liked:

The animation of this dvd was cute.

What I didn't like:

The way the stories are delivered is a little boring.

I thought that this was kind of corny and a little weird, for example, after Jesus heals one woman she gets up and tells Him that He looks thin, to which He responds “that's because Peter told me about your cheese something or other” or something to that affect and then she offers to make Him some and He offers to help her “I know how to make the dough”, He says. Maybe I am just too serious, but I really did not like this part.

My conclusion:

I don't recommend this dvd.

I give this a 2 out of 5 stars.

A Little Late in Posting...

But... My sister had a little boy over a week ago now. He is absolutely beautiful. :) I love him so much already.

Today my brother called and said that my niece has dropped and that my sister in law may be going in to labor really soon. I am so excited!

Let the Party Begin!

I am so excited! So excited!

My sister has gone in to the hospital - about 2 hours ago now. Supposedly in labor! :) I can hardly wait!

Say a prayer for her and Baby if you will. :)

Let the party begin!

God's Promises for Boys Review

God's Promises for Boys by Jack Countryman and Amy Parker

I received this book for free from the publisher. This review is my true and honest opinions of the book.

About this book:

This book is a somewhere over a hundred pages long.

This book includes many topics followed by a short “poem” (or something like that) and then followed by three or four Bible verses that go along with that topic.

What I liked about this book:

I loved the pictures in this book! They are really, really, really cute!

I liked the design of this book. As I just said, the pictures are great, combine great pictures with cool colors and patterns and this book just looks really fun!

Includes a content list, so that you can easily find the right section of the book for whatever you may be going through.

Includes a lot of Bible verses!

Who this book is for, or What I didn't like about this book:

This book is “supposed” to be for 4 to 8 year old boys. I would say that this book is about right for 7 to 10 year old boys, and even at that age they might still need a little help understanding parts of it – and parts of it might not really apply to them.

My conclusion:

This is a really cute and helpful book. I give it four stars. (I would have given this book 5 stars, but it really isn't perfect for the age that it is supposed to be written for.)

Snow... Really?!

We've gotten an early spring and summer-like weather this year... it seems that the snow and cold have been gone forever... but, guess what... it's snowing today! :( At least it's too warm for it to stay!

An update on my nieces or niece and nephew... my sister's (and her husband's) baby appears to be getting really close to wanting to come out and meet us soon! My brother and his wife's baby is due just about a month from now. I can't wait!

I Am Hutterite... A Review...

I got this book to review from BookSneeze - I got the book for free, and these opinions are all my own. I finished it over the course of like three days.

I Am Hutterite by Mary-Ann Kirkby

The Author:

This book is written by Mary-Ann Kirkby. Mary-Ann was born about 50 years ago into a Hutterite colony in Canada.

The Story:

This book transcends the story of Mary-Ann Kirkby, it is about her ancestors and those who grew up around her. This book gives a history of the Hutterites, who are in my opinion, very similar to Amish.

Who This Book is For:

I Am Hutterite is for those who wish to learn more about the Hutterites, for those who like to learn about other cultures, and for those (like me) who just like reading auto-biographies.

What I Didn't Like:

I didn't like how this book just kind of jumped around, and didn't simply tell a story from start to finish.

I don't like how we never really get to know how Mary-Ann feels about her past, other than the fact that she tells her son to be proud of his heritage – the Hutterites, in a way, caused her brother to die (among other wrongs) and she doesn't ever share about any type of anger she may have towards them.

My Conclusion:

I give this book a 3 out of 5 stars, because it's just that, middlin'.
